Two EC 1/4 'La Fayette' Squadron Mirage III Es in clean configuration taking off for an interception exercise over the East part of France near Germany and Switzerland. Interception with the SEPR rocket engine was one of the capabilities of Mirage III E but was scarcely used in the seventies. As demos I see only two SEPR intercepts in twelve years and it was particularly spectacular to observe a Mirage going from ground to 45,000ft and track it, thanks to flames and smoke, until crossing just before the contrail of a target Mirage F1.
