Another Romanian product of the early seventies was the agricultural IAR 822. Prototype was YR-MCA first flown during 1970 and followed from the next year by the launch of 200 production aircraft, with probably a good number as IAR 826 with an all metal frame rather than mixed and with a more powerful Lycoming engine, the basic being a 290 hp Lycoming.
