Aero/Turbomeca Astafan-Commander F-WSTM
*17*

F-WSTM Astafan-Commander was an interesting twin engined prototype got from a Turbo-Commander airframe bought by Turbomeca Engines Society in order to adapt and test their by-pass Astafan turbo engines of original concept based upon an important front fan having variable pitch blades. Each gave a 1565 lb. thrust and was rather considered as a turboprop than a pure jet-engine. Aircraft was first flown at Pau airfield on April 8, 1971.
