Close view of the pilot and nav-bomber cockpits fuselage section with behind the air intake and its variable cone ( la souris in french ). One of the main reason of the quite excellent performances of all the Dassault Mirages was due to the particular ability of French engineers to design air intakes and ducts giving a maximum efficiency to feed the various ATAR 9 jet engines and their derivatives M 53 and M 88 later.
