Airborne, flaps now retracted, 148335 started for a
several hours PATMAR mission for a general survey
including clandestine fishing boats and big crazy tankers
having a too easily tendency to clean their tanks at sea,
something not very appreciated by coastal people...
Elements for take-off were: radial engines with 2900
revs, admission pressure at 58 inches, jet-engines 100%
power ...V1 established at 115 kts, V2 at 120 kts to
rotate after a 25 seconds run, then level for a short
acceleration and have landing gear up, jet-engines
reduced at 96% before climbing at 165 Kts with flaps
retracting from 10° to nothing. At the end of the climb
( Neptune almost always flew at low levels ) radial
settings were adjusted and jet-engines cut and purged of
their gas, air intakes shutters being closed only after
the complete cooling of tubines.
