This clearly shows that Lockheed designers of P2Vs paid
great attention for a perfect visibility to benefit of
the fore crew, the target to attack or to rescue often
being almost a "nothing " at sea, mainly with
bad weather...Note the welded structure in the low part
of the glazed nose to receive feet feet of the fore
observer and give him a viewbelow; probably the most
fascinating position in the aircraft where you wish your
aircraft has an infinite autonomy to spend your life at a
few meters from water and its boats and other islands and
coasts or from ground with the unexhaustable activities
to be watched and spotted or during close formation
flight with other Neptunes... Path of main shock-absorbers
from rest is quite reduced and see how Lockheed opted for
pure simplicity with the half fork design of the fore
undercarriage leg!!!
