Over the immensity of the Lann-Bihoué NAS, 25F parking
is neighbouring with the one of the Atalntic equipped 24F
Flotille which was the first to exchange its P2V-7s
against 8 aircraft from Bréguet for the same roles
including SAR missions. NAS sector where housed 25F
Neptunes and also Atlantics of Flotilles 23&24F was
named " The Poullo ", a geographic name. The
controller e.g. told " Neptune Yankee Delta, clear
for runway twenty-six, you call when leaving The Poullo
". I never heard such an equivalent in the military
aeronautical phraseology... Sailors who fly ( or not )
never do the same as other people under military
conditions ... About French Navy, people easily say:
" La Royale ", this because officers very often
are coming from ancesters who fought in the Navy during
the French Royalty and traditions they established were
kept as close as possible by their descendants...
