Quite a nice rodeo done by pilot of Alizé N°
37 who had to be qualified for carrier operations. Weather was generally good
but when bad weather is coming things sometimes becomes more complicated for
rookies... Add night and it is a pleasure to see all the work done by the
deck-landing officer either with hands or radio. At night, after
four bolters, I saw the d-l chief-officer replacing the operating one and begin
speaking to a rookie as a good mother to her loved baby...and quietly he gave
instructions until Crusader engaged the arrester hook on first cable for one
of the best landings of the night... Otherly, short of fuel, the fighter had
to be ditched... |
